In
buildings
of conventional
frame, brick,
or stone,
infiltration is nor-
mally adequate
to
provide
air for combustion
and
for operation of
the
barometric
draft control.
For installation
in
an
enclosed utility
room
with
an
outside wall, a
fresh air opening
to the outside
should be made
with a free cross
sectional area
of twice the area
of the
flue outlet. For
each
1,000 feet above
sea level,
increase fresh air
opening by at
least
four
percent.
Isolate the
room from any area served
by exhaust
fans.
Chimneys
must be
properly
designed,
adequately
sized,
terminated
above surrounding
objects,
unobstructed and be
in a
good
state
of
repair. All cleanout
openings should
be
sealed.
Refer to boiler
manual
lor details.
A draft regulator
is furnished and
should be mounted
in the smoke
pipe
18 to 20
inches from collar between
boiler and chimney.
Use a
draft
gauge
to adjust
proper
opening.
When burner air
supply and dralt
is
properly
adjusted, combustion
chamber draft
will be approximately
0.01
"
to 0.02"
W.C. The larger the
installation, the
greater
the
draft
will
be required
at the stack to
obtain
0.0l"
to 0.02"
W.C.
at
combustion
chamber.

Mount burner to boiler
with
gasket
supplted.
Install nozzle
(if
not
already
inserted):
a. Swing
open transformer.
b. Remove nozzle
line
assembly
from the air
tube.
c. Install and tighten
the
proper nozzle
as specified
for the
given
boiler
size. See table on
page
3.
Clheck electrode settings
as specified on
page
3.
lnsert nozzle line assembly back
into air tube.
Tighten thumb
nut onto nozzle
line.
C-onnect
flared fitting on copper
oil line to nozzle
line
and tighten.
Swing
transformer closed and
fasten.
Wire
burner
to boiler system according
to boiler
manufacturer's
instructions.
L Burner and nozzle
installation complete?
2. Turn main
power
switch
"off."
3. Set thermostat
above room temperature.
4. Is
there
oil in the tank?
5.
Air oil valves open?
6. Check start-up settings
on
page

SETTINGS
ONLY
-
FINAL
ADJUSTMENT MUST BE
MADE
WITH
COMBUSTION
TEST EQUIPMENT.
a.
Air
band
-
set
to recommended setting.
b. Air shutter
-
set to
recommended
setting.
7. Open oil
line
air bleed
valve.
8.
Turn
on
main
power
switch to start burner.
9. Slip a
3/
l6 inch I.D.
plastic
hose over end of bleed valve and bleed
into a container. Continue to bleed
for I
5
seconds after oil is
free of
air
bubbles. Close bleed valve.
Burner
should
ignite.
10. Make final adjustments with COMBUSTION
TEST EQUIP-
MENT.
Allow
l0 minutes
for warm-up:
l.
Check
smoke
(it
should
be zero
on Bacarach scale).
2. Check draft
(.0l"
to .02"
W.C.
in combustion chamber).
3. Check
percent
of COz
(should
be between ll and
l3%d.
To increase
percent
of CO:, lower combustion air band
setting.
To decrease
percent
of COr,
increase combustion air band setting.
4. Start and stop unit
several times.
5. Check
operation of
limits, thermostats and safety
timing
of
com-
bustion control.
6. Check
for oil leaks.
ALL INSPECTIONS
SHOULD
BE RECHECKED
AFTER
ONE
OR
TWO WEEKS OF OPERATION.

OIL
MOTOR
By
proper
oiling twice a
year,
motor life will be
increased.
Only a
few
drops
of
non-detergent type oil at both
motor
holes
are needed.
C)veroiling
can damage the motor.
Most motors
supplied
now have
permanently lubricated
bearings and thus have no
oiler
holes.
FILTER
-.
Oil
filter cartridge
should be replaced once
each
year
so
fuel oil will
not become
contaminated and
plug
up
fuel
pump
and
nozzle of
oil burner.
NOZZLE
-
Nozzle should be
changed at least once each
year
before
start-up of
heating season.
Replace with
proper
nozzle.
COMPONENTS
If for any
reason burner
parts
have to be replaced,
always use
part
numbers and descriptions
when
ordering from installer.
(IN
ALL COMMUNICATIONS
STATE BURNER

PART NUMBERS).
ELECTRODE
SETTINGS
-
This
is very important for reliable igni-
tion of
oils. Check these
once a
year.
See

FAN &
BLOWER HOUSING
-
This must be
kept clean and free of
dirt and
lint. Swing open
transformer
to
check
fan blades
for
above.
Be
sure
electric
power
is OFF on burner
when transformer
is opened up
for
this inspection.
